Ever wondered why the character counter turns red when you type a long tweet? Many people think it highlights that you are reaching the 140 character limit. While you can read it that way, the actual purpose is to indicate that people cannot retweet your message without changing it anymore.
Update: This assumes the "RT" syntax. People using the "via" syntax usually add commentary anyway.
