MinuteFile transcribes recordings locally on your Mac. The app does not upload recordings or transcripts to MotionObj and does not require an account.

Data on your Mac

MinuteFile reads the recording folders you select. Its original transcript archive, recording index, preferences, and trial state are stored locally. A license key is stored in your macOS Keychain. Exported files are copies placed where you choose.

Removing MinuteFile does not automatically remove your source recordings or exported copies.

Network access

MinuteFile uses network access for these specific operations:

  • Downloading optional transcription and speaker models from their model host.
  • Checking motionobj.com for signed MinuteFile updates through Sparkle.
  • Opening Stripe checkout in your browser when you choose to buy a license.

Transcription and transcript search do not call a cloud transcription or language-model API.

Purchases and support

Stripe processes purchases and provides MotionObj with purchase details needed to fulfill and support a license, including the checkout email address. Stripe’s own privacy policy applies to checkout. If you contact support, MotionObj receives the information you include in the message.

Website analytics

The MotionObj website uses Clicky to measure visits. This website analytics is separate from the MinuteFile app; MinuteFile does not include Clicky.
